Kenneth Onwuka Dike was a fellow history student at Aberdeen University at the time the artist's daughter studied there. He visited the artists' home in Kirkcudbright as her guest, where he sat for two portraits. This painting was sold at auction in 2016 by Lyon & Turnbull. A less formal oil portrait of Kenneth Dike is held by the family. Dike returned to his native Nigeria after graduation, and became Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan there. He moved to Harvard University in the United States during the Nigerian civil war. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenneth_Dike
